Renwick Psychology provides specialist AQA GCSE and A-Level Psychology tuition in Macclesfield and online. Lessons are available for Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 students, with a focus on exam technique, confidence and clear understanding.
A-Level Psychology explores the science of human behaviour, helping students understand how we think, feel and act. Topics include memory, social influence, attachment, psychopathology and research methods, building both knowledge and analytical skills.
Students learn how to apply psychological theories to real-life.

A-Level AQA Psychology explores the science of behaviour in greater depth, building on GCSE knowledge and developing advanced analytical and evaluation skills. Students study key topics including social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology, biopsychology and research methods, alongside optional areas such as relationships, schizophrenia or forensic psychology.

The course requires students to confidently demonstrate all assessment objectives: AO1 (accurate knowledge), AO2(application to scenarios) and AO3 (evaluation and analysis). A strong emphasis is placed on essay writing, critical thinking and the ability to link research evidence to real-world behaviour.

At Renwick Psychology, lessons are structured to simplify complex theories, strengthen exam technique and build confidence. Students are guided step-by-step through model answers, exam practice and revision strategies to achieve top grades at A-Level.

AO1 at A-Level requires precise, well-developed knowledge of theories, studies and concepts. This includes using key terminology correctly and often describing research in depth.
👉 Think: “Can I explain this like an expert?”
Example:
Outlining Stanley Milgram’s obedience study with detailed procedure, findings and conclusions, using accurate terminology such as agentic state and legitimacy of authority.

AO2 involves applying knowledge to unfamiliar scenarios, often requiring you to interpret behaviour and link it explicitly to psychological theory.
👉 Think: “Can I link theory directly to the scenario?”
Example:
Explaining why a person obeys an authority figure in a scenario using concepts from Stanley Milgram’s research.

AO3 at A-Level is where top grades are earned. You must provide well-developed evaluation, including:
👉 Think: “Can I critically analyse and reach a judgement?”
Example:
Evaluating Stanley Milgram by discussing ethical issues, methodological strengths, and how findings apply to real-world obedience.
