Renwick Psychology provides specialist AQA GCSE and A-Level Psychology tuition in Macclesfield and online. Lessons are available for Year 10, Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 students, with a focus on exam technique, confidence and clear understanding.
GCSE AQA Psychology explores how people think, behave and interact with the world around them. Students study key topics such as memory, social influence, attachment and research methods, developing both subject knowledge and critical thinking skills.

GCSE AQA Psychology introduces students to the fascinating science of behaviour and mental processes. The course explores key topics such as memory, perception, development, research methods and social influence, helping students understand why people think and act the way they do.

Students will learn how to describe and evaluate psychological theories, apply knowledge to real-life scenarios, and develop strong exam skills in line with AQA assessment objectives (AO1, AO2 and AO3). The subject builds critical thinking, analytical writing and confidence — making it an excellent foundation for A-Level Psychology and beyond.

At Renwick Psychology, lessons are designed to make complex ideas clear, engaging and exam-focused, ensuring students are fully prepared for GCSE success.

AO1 – Knowledge & Description (What you know)
AO1 is all about showing your understanding of psychological content. This includes describing theories, studies, concepts and key terms clearly and accurately.
👉 Think: “Can I explain it properly?”
Example:
Describing Solomon Asch’s study, including aim, procedure and findings.

AO2 – Application (Using your knowledge)
AO2 is about applying psychology to a scenario. You take what you know and link it to a real-life situation given in the question.
👉 Think: “Can I use it?”
Example:
Explaining why a person in a scenario conforms using ideas from Solomon Asch’s research.

AO3 – Evaluation (Judging the theory/study)
AO3 is where you analyse and evaluate. You discuss strengths, weaknesses, evidence, and draw conclusions.
👉 Think: “How good is it?”
Example:
Evaluating Solomon Asch’s study by discussing issues like lack of ecological validity or cultural bias.
